Laurie joined McLeod & Company as an articling student in 2005, was called to the Alberta Bar in 2006 and is currently an associate in the Litigation Department. She graduated with Distinction from the University of Calgary in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Women’s Studies and completed her Bachelor of Laws in 2005, graduating third in her class. Laurie was the recipient of the Canada Law Book Prize for demonstrating overall ability and received the MacPherson McNiven Insolvency Prize for the most outstanding academic performance in debtor/creditor relations. At university Laurie was an active member of the Society of Law Students, associate editor of the Alberta Law Review, wrote for and participated in the annual Law Show, and volunteered with Student Legal Assistance.
Professional and Community Activities
Besides belonging to the Law Society of Alberta, Laurie is a member of the Civil Litigation and Personal Injury sections of the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Law Society.
She likes to remain fit and active and enjoys camping. Laurie participates in front line volunteer work and fund raising with the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter.
