Michael C. Kwiatkowski joined McLeod & Company LLP as an articling student in 2007 after graduating from law school at the University of Calgary. Michael was subsequently called to the Alberta Bar in July, 2008, and is currently an associate in the Litigation Department.

Michael maintains an active civil litigation practice with particular emphasis on construction litigation and commercial lease litigation.
 
In his construction litigation practice, Michael acts primarily for national home builders, but also represents home owners, general contractors and sub-trades. His construction experience focuses primarily on contractual disputes, negligence and lien claims, including disputes relating to the Alberta New Home Warranty Program.

With respect to Michael's commercial lease practice, Michael acts primarily on behalf of commercial landlords.

Michael is also the exclusive litigation counsel in Alberta for Canada's largest provider of ATM services.

Michael has extensive trial experience in the Provincial Court of Alberta (Civil), and makes regular appearances in the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench. Michael also has experience and success in the Alberta Court of Appeal.

During and subsequent to the completion of his undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University, Michael was an athlete on Canada's National Snowboard Team, and he maintains an active involvement with various professional sports organizations in the Vancouver and Calgary areas. In his leisure time, Michael is a pilot and enjoys flying, riding motorcycles, playing drums, golf and hockey.

Michael has completed the Legal Education Society of Alberta's week-long Intensive Trial Advocacy Course.

Professional and Community Activities
Michael is an active motivational speaker with the Clean Air Champions Program, the Esteem Team, and the Clean Calgary Association. Michael is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Volunteer Lawyer Service in Calgary, and is a volunteer lawyer on the roster at the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC).
