 Mr. Kaplan has practiced extensively in the field of litigation, appearing in courts throughout Alberta, Manitoba, as well as the Federal Court of Canada and the Alberta Securities Commission. His litigation experience includes personal injury, matrimonial, real estate and commercial litigation, general insurance and professional misconduct defence for dentistry, medicine, chiropractic and veterinary medicine. Mr. Kaplan, a founding partner of the firm, was Managing Partner of the firm from 2002 until 2010. A Manitoba native, he graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1975 after obtaining a Bachelor of Laws degree. He practiced civil and criminal litigation in Manitoba before moving to Alberta in 1981 and being admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in the same year. Mr. Kaplan was a frequent lecturer at the Winnipeg Real Estate Board. Since arriving in Calgary, he has been a member of the Insurance and Civil Litigation Sub-sections of the Canadian Bar Association, has lectured for the Legal Education Society of Alberta, and is a sustaining member of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Kaplan was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2000 by the Government of the Province of Alberta.
