Our new paralegals are mentored within their departments while they learn the firm systems and procedures until they become familiar with how we operate. Each department has senior staff members who are happy to assist in the education and familiarization of new people, and every lawyer throughout the office has an open door policy when questions arise.
We make a real effort to pair new lawyers up with more senior mentors within their departments to ensure younger lawyers have an ear to bounce ideas and problems off of while they gain more experience. In a further effort to make sure no one feels disconnected from their practice group, we have regular department meetings which are a great chance to discuss emergent legal issues, and get group feedback on the handling of any aspect of a particular case. We take a team approach to many of our files depending on our client’s needs, and we find that sharing our resources and expertise makes for more creative, effective and satisfying legal solutions.
