Specific job functions include what you would expect from a Receptionist position, specifically:
  • Telephone, email and face-to-face interactions with both our clients and our people

  • Fielding inquiries to the appropriate individuals and departments

  • Accepting payment from clients

  • Word processing as requested, working on forms, letters, reports to memos

  • Assist with the logistics of meetings, seminars, workshops, special projects and events that occur in the boardrooms and meeting rooms

  • Booking meetings in boardrooms and ensuring the appropriate presentation equipment and catering is in place

  • As the first face our clients see when the arrive, a professional, positive disposition is highly important

  • Provide information to staff and/or clients about availability of staff and boardrooms

  • Maintain the reception area so that is is always tidy and presentable
The requirements for this position are as follows:
  • One year minimum of direct work experience in a receptionist capacity

Plaintiff Personal Injury Lawyer (Contract)

McLeod Law is seeking an experienced personal injury lawyer that is looking for a different kind of career as an independent contract lawyer; a career that has more flexibility and the ability to choose when they work, where they work and how many hours they work.  Lawyers who are interested in operating as non-exclusive, independent contractors, including strong defence-side personal injury litigators are welcome to apply.

  • Liaise with the client through the entire life of the file and/or manage particular steps in a variety of files
  • Gather medical documentation and analyze damages 
  • Build and maintain the client relationship by keeping them informed and involved
  • Manage the relationship with the insurance adjuster and/or opposing lawyer
  • Prepare settlement proposals and negotiate/mediate the settlement
  • 4-7 years of experience of relevant personal injury and/or defence work
  • Exceptional client management and customer service skills
  • Excellent skills in interpersonal relations and team work
  • Canadian qualified

Hiring process

We do an initial review of resumes and transcripts. Then, after the selection process, interviews are held. We hire an average of three articling students each year who rotate between both offices.

Legal Assistant

McLeod Law is seeking a senior legal assistant to join our Personal Injury group. This is a full-time position based in our South office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury litigation. Having completed an accredited legal assistant program is essential and someone with 3+ years of experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of legal terminology, civil litigation documents, civil litigation procedures and basic medical terminology where applicable
  • Problem solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • Advanced-level technical skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, to multi-task and readily willing to adapt to changing priorities
  • Being well organized and both accustomed to and prepared to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work efficiently as a part of a team
  • The ability to speak, read and write English fluently
