Through her family business involvement, Deirdre has developed expertise in alcohol licensing, liquor legislation, policies, and guidelines, frequently working with local breweries due to her in-depth industry knowledge.

Deirdre maintains a broad corporate/commercial practice, regularly advising entrepreneurs on business formation, organization, and compliance. She has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and restructurings, and she drafts and negotiates contracts for business transactions, including asset and share acquisitions, sales agreements, service agreements, and property co-ownership and management agreements. Additionally, Deirdre assists clients with bank and equity financing.

In her real estate practice, Deirdre advises on all aspects of commercial real estate and farmland transactions, including acquisition, financing, sales, conveyancing, land development, limited partnership structuring, and commercial leasing for landlords, property managers, and tenants. She has experience with Indigenous clients on economic development and land management, both on designated lands and those under a land code.

With years of experience in the liquor and hospitality industry, as legal counsel to various restaurant and brewery groups, Deirdre has gained invaluable insight into the specific legal challenges faced by those in the industry.

Deirdre also has considerable experience working with clients in the veterinary industry. She has acted for numerous veterinary practices in Alberta and regularly advises clients on share structuring for veterinary practice entities and compliance matters with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Practice Inspection and Practice Standards (PIPS) Committee.
